Color is Powerful

What does it mean to heal with color? In working with Flora Corona color elixirs for 4 years now, I can say that I am just beginning to understand this. Color is powerful. Nature has the most amazing colors, from the flowers to the animals to the ocean to the earth to the sky. We are all moved by a glorious sunrise or sunset. We marvel at the depth of color in the oceans. Florists can make endless combinations of colorful arrangements. Geologists delight in every new gemstone found. We can’t deny their significance when we think of a rainbow; the same colors in the same order every time a rainbow appears. God gave us the rainbow to signify he won’t devastate the planet again. For thousands of years healing and meditation modalities have associated the colors of the rainbow with our chakra system. The list goes on.
But how can we use it to heal? There are many exercises you can do to become familiar with color. These are simple ways to get to know color which can have profound effects. I can try one of these one day and feel and understand a color in one way, then do it again in a month and have a completely different experience. The first one you might remember from science class!

COLORS HAVE COMPLIMENTARY OPPOSITES:
- On your computer screen, print it out on paper, or find some construction paper: Make half your screen a color, the other half white. This is easily done on a Word document, or download the PDF at the end of this post. It can also be done by taking a piece of construction paper and taping half of it on a white piece of paper. Or even taping it to a white wall. So many options for creating this. I have also included ones you can print in the PDF at the bottom of the page.
- Stare at the colored square for a full 30 seconds. Now shift just your eyes to the white section. What color do you see?
- Try with the main rainbow colors, or variations such as teal, peach, lilac, etc.
COLORS MAKE US FEEL.
WHAT DO WE DO WITH THIS?
Depending on whether you want to explore the colors that make you feel comfortable or uncomfortable, try these next steps.
- Open in full view or print out the 12 colored circles included in the PDF download. Leave as is or cut into “flashcards”.
- Look at each one individually. Write down words of how each one makes you feel.
- Now look at them by rows; red-orange-yellow, then lime-green-teal, etc. How does the grouping make you feel?
- Take the colors that made you feel uncomfortable. Look at their opposite on the next layout. Do you feel a more comfortable feeling with its opposite?

- Wear the color.
- Meditate with the color all around and in front of you. Find a scarf, light a candle, just print a sheet or find construction paper of that color.
- Journal about how it makes you feel, and ask why. Keep journaling over time. Do you get insights? Does your feeling towards the color change?
- Take a bath and focus on that color. Ask your Body-Mind to tell you why you like/don’t like that color.
- Research what the color means. I don’t give a lot on the meaning of color on purpose. Depending on which “expert” or “philosophy” you learn about, it will be different. Follow what feels right to you.
- For example, RED can mean: passion, anger, sexuality, strength, courage, creativity, warmth, danger. All mean something very different.
WHY DO WE HAVE A FAVORITE COLOR?
I believe we are attracted to different colors at different times based on what is going on in our lives. But we also have colors that we always seem to be drawn to – the colors we wear, the paint on the walls, the floral arrangements, throw pillows, artwork, jewelry, etc. This is your color ray. I personally seem to have two. Orange and Deep Aqua. I do not like them together though. We also seem to be drawn to clusters of colors. For example, I do not like red and blue, or red and green together. If I put red with oranges, pinks, and yellows, it is pleasing to my senses. You will find that when you do research on your color ray, themes will emerge. And it can be that you totally champion the healing of that color, or you really struggle with it and know it is something you are working on to help yourself and then others. For example, I really like orange, but I have a hard time, even after 3 years, working with the Flora Corona orange color light elixir. It gives me a headache. I have progressed however, and can use it in light ways.

Here are some patterns (not all people of course, but enough for it to be noticeable). Energy workers and spiritual leaders like purple. Women in powerful positions within their careers like red. Women in very heart centered, caring positions like daycare, grade school teachers, nursing homes, animal rescues, wear colors like pink, lilac, and pale yellow.
Very bold colors like carmine and bright yellow are not often worn or used in large areas like painted walls, but are great accent colors, like cell phone cases and artwork. These colors are amazing, healing, and powerful, but very strong and bold to the senses. The message they impart may be offensive to our senses if we are feeling the opposite color at the time. For example, YELLOW generally means JOY and HAPPINESS, and if the yellow is very bright, in large quantities it comes across as a little manic or overpowering. The opposite of yellow is VIOLET, which helps us focus on QUIETUDE, STILLNESS, and INTROSPECTION to bring about profound change. So you can see how joy compliments stillness very well, but loud laughter and dancing (a fantastic form of joy!) might be too much for someone in an introspective mood.
A person who is always attracted to violet will probably tend to be someone who gains deep wisdom and insight from meditation, for example. This is their favorite color as learning and growing from stillness comes naturally for them. If your favorite color is yellow, it may sometimes be pale, and sometimes bold. Either way, yellow people tend to be upbeat, positive, social, and active. If pale yellow is their color, they are type of person who always seems to have a genuine, knowing smile on their face and are quick to embrace you in a warm hug. And this is how they learn – from genuine joyful interactions with others.
